Carsales Culture

Our People. Our Culture.

Our people across the globe make our business a success. We continue to work with passion, united by our purpose – to empower people to move freely through our world-leading marketplaces. Talking openly about our strategy with the team is important to us, as we want to ensure that every single person knows the role that they play in terms of meeting our goals and feel connected to the direction that the business is moving in. We are proud to be a workplace that promotes and respects diversity and inclusion and embraces the individual differences that each team member brings to our business. We firmly believe in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that values and encourages the ideas, capabilities and experiences of our team. We are an Alliance Member of Inclusive Australia, a Welcome Here Project member, and have been recognised as a WGEA Employer of Choice for five consecutive years - all of which we are very proud of.

We’re proud of our engaged workforce and this can largely be attributed to the fact our people understand we’re more than just a place to spend the 9-5 – we want everyone at carsales to have long standing careers that challenge them to grow and develop. We have a sustained focus on ensuring that the carsales values of Enjoyment, Respect, Integrity, Communication and Honesty (EnRICH) are instilled in all carsales team members at every opportunity. These values guide our behaviour and the qualities are entrenched in each and every facet of the organisation – no matter where someone is physically located. It’s the support and dedication of our people that has again led us to being formally acknowledged as a Great Place to Work by Great Place to Work Australia for the third consecutive year. This recognition truly reflects how committed our people are and how committed we are to our people.

Corporate social responsibility is important to our people. We do a lot to give back to the community through volunteering and fundraising. In 2016 we decided we wanted to take what we were doing and step it up a notch by formally establishing the carsales Foundation. The carsales Foundation is our independent, registered charity that was created to formalise our community outreach programs, and the vision is simple... 'To positively impact our community by promoting inclusion and supporting equal access to education.'

The four pillars of the carsales Foundation are:

  • Community Grants - anyone in our business can nominate a charity that they are passionate about to receive a grant of up to $500.
  • University education – supporting a female to study Technology at Swinburne University through a Women in IT scholarship.
  • Prevention of family & domestic violence – donating to shelters, family support networks, and White Ribbon.
  • Primary and secondary school education – providing support to primary and secondary school kids under financial hardship, via The Smith Family.

Each year our team helps fundraise for the carsales Foundation, and the monies are then distributed to the many community groups and charities that we support. We're proud to have established strong links and strengthened our partnerships with the wider community and charities that are close to the hearts of our people.
