The following analysis is brought to you by RedBook IQ.

Toyota RAV4

The Toyota RAV4 is on track to become one of the best-selling cars of all time, after cumulative worldwide sales since its launch in 1994 sailed past the 10 million mark in February.

On its current sales trajectory, the RAV4 could eclipse the Ford Model T’s 15 million sales in a little over five years…

The RAV4 was the eighth best-selling car in Australian in 2019, but what are its biggest rivals on carsales.com.au in the eyes of today’s car shoppers?

RedBook IQ can reveal that the RAV4’s #1 rival in March was the Mazda CX-5, followed by the Subaru Forester, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson and Nissan X-Trail. The Volkswagen Tiguan is the only non-Japanese or Korean rival to rank in the top 10, placing in sixth position.

Suzuki Swift

Suzuki Australia has confirmed the refreshed Suzuki Swift Sport Series II will bring more gear and a spicy new colour from next month. But what are its main rivals on carsales.com.au in the eyes of Australian car buyers?

According to RedBook IQ, buyers cross-shop the Swift to Hyundai i30 to the greatest extent, followed by its Suzuki stablemate, the Baleno.

From the Ford Focus to the Toyota Corolla, Kia Cerato and Volkswagen Golf, it seems that buyers are not afraid to pit the Swift against sales leaders from the Small Car segment

Mitsubishi ASX

Released to the Australian market way back in 2010, the Mitsubishi ASX has outlasted and outsold contemporaries and progenitors and continues to post sales numbers that are the envy of the competition.

So what is its #1 rival in the opinion of car buyers on carsales? Its stablemate! The sportier and swoopier take on the compact SUV, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.

Traditional Japanese and Korean rivals the Nissan Qashqai and Hyundai Kona then follow, while another Mitsubishi, this time the larger Outlander, also ranks highly in this cross-shop analysis.
