Video calls with friends, families and colleagues are quickly becoming ‘the new norm’ in staying connected.
Now is the time to utilise video calls to enhance the virtual showroom experience for customers, highlight the vehicle and discuss its features and benefits in a quick, easy-to-understand method.
carsales has prepared its five top tips for nailing your next video call:
1. LIVE videos are not always the preference
Remember that not all customers will want to participate in a LIVE video call. Give them the option to be sent a video to watch at their leisure and follow up from there.
If the video is captured in a structured and generic style featuring all key angles, features and selling points of the car, the video can also be uploaded to the inventory listing via AutoGate, to engage other prospective buyers on carsales.com.au.
2. Create an easy space to work with and rehearse
The first time you do this can be challenging. Set up a call with a colleague or friend and practice – practice makes perfect! Ensure the vehicle is ready to go and display one side of the vehicle at a time.
A script can also be a great reference so have one prepared to help make things easier – e.g. hop into the driver’s seat and turn the vehicle on, chat through the latest features on the dashboard and work your way towards the back and boot space.
3. Invest in a wireless set of headphones
If you are working in an open area, sound can travel very quickly and wireless headphones can help ensure customers aren’t missing important information while you’re moving the phone camera around and showcasing key features and benefits.
4. Look professional, keep eye contact and show some personality
Looking professional is key – it’s important to help make customers feel like they are in the showroom. Try and keep eye contact throughout the call and show genuine interest.
It’s OK to steer off-topic for a second if customers want to chat to you about their new puppies. This will help build a rapport.
5. Go through important documents virtually
Don’t be afraid to go through handbooks and service records when chatting through the history of the vehicle – try and provide customers with the same amount of information they would receive if in-store.
And finally – have fun and embrace the process (LIVE or not!).
